Review of the Sony 90mm Macro f/2.8 G | The Sharpest Lens I've Ever Purchased
I recently purchased the Sony 90mm Macro f/2.8 lens. Admittedly with was a bit of an impulse buy but one of my bucket-list items is to master macro photography. After purchasing the lens I realized that not only did I purchase a great lens for macro photography, but I also purchased one of the sharpest lenses I have ever used. This is now a go-to lens for a wide variety of items.

I decided to test out this lens in Monterey in a few different settings. It did take awhile to get used to the lens but once I figured out how to properly focus it I found it to be unbelievably sharp.
In the above photo you'll notice the hairs on the end of the lip of this sea creature, #notascientist. It's pretty incredible quality considering it was shot at an ISO of 2500.
One of the best features of the lens is the 11" minimum focal distance that allows you to get right up on the subject. This is far better than a lot of other macro lenses on the market and if placed on an APS-C camera you will get some incredible zoom.
In addition to being a great Macro lens I found this to be a great portrait lens overall. The photos it takes at distance are unbelievably sharp and a lot sharper than my Sony 24-70 GM lens. The focusing at distance can be a little bit hard to get used to but when I figured it out I was super happy with what I got.
So if you can't tell I am stoked about this lens. I could nerd out about a whole bunch of technical parts of the lens but instead I will just tell you that I have found it to be incredibly sharp, easy to use and a new go-to lens for my bag. If you want more info on the lens click here!
